Last week, I attended a festival dedicated to Namsadang: Korean folk circus-like performers who travelled around the country during the Joseon dynasty to show their spectacular acrobatics, dancing skills & mastery of traditional instruments πͺπ€Έπ»ββοΈπ₯π€Ήπ» The 3-day festival takes place every October in the city of Anseong, the birthplace of Namsadang π°π· I got to watch amazing performances such as: - pungmul (νλ¬Όλμ΄) = a Korean folk music tradition that includes drumming, dancing, and singing. - JultagiΒ (μ€νκΈ°) = a tight-rope walking spectacle where the performer shows his balance and acrobatic skills - Beona (λ²λλμ΄) = a stunt where a large circular disc or plate spun with a stick or tobacco pipe There were also many family-friendly booths to experience traditional games, discover old Korean artifacts & try local food. I even got to rent a Hanbok for the afternoon and felt like a Joseon-era lady! If you want to learn about Korean folk culture while enjoying your day in a beautiful park, I recommend that you visit this festival just over an hour away from Seoul π₯°
Make sure to try all the games offered at the booths because you can win prizes!
