About your trip

I had an amazing experience with Funday Korea’s temple stay, and I would genuinely recommend it to anyone looking for something more meaningful than a typical tourist activity in Korea. As an Indian and a Hindu, visiting a Buddhist temple and experiencing a traditional temple stay was especially meaningful to me. My hometown in India is also near Bodh Gaya, so Buddhist culture has always felt somewhat familiar to me. I had wanted to do a temple stay in Korea for almost four years but never managed to make it happen. Funday Korea finally gave me the opportunity, and I am really glad I took it. The experience was much more than simply staying at a temple. I enjoyed learning about the temple environment, spending time there peacefully, and meeting other participants. I also made a few good friends during the trip, which made the experience even more enjoyable. One of the most memorable moments was meeting and talking with the monk at the temple. He was originally from Tibet and is currently an Indian passport holder, so we had a fascinating conversation about India, Tibet, Buddhism, and the similarities between our different cultures. That unexpected connection was probably the highlight of the entire trip for me. If you are visiting Korea and want to experience something beyond the usual sightseeing, I would strongly recommend trying a Funday Korea temple stay. It is a great way to experience Korean culture firsthand, meet people from different backgrounds, make new friends, and come away with memories that are much more personal than those from a typical tourist attraction. For me, it was something I had wanted to experience for four years, and Funday Korea made it possible. I would definitely encourage others to give it a try.

TIP

* Wear comfortable clothes and shoes because you may spend a considerable amount of time walking or participating in activities. * Be respectful of the temple’s rules, customs, and quiet atmosphere. The experience is much more enjoyable when you participate rather than simply observe. * Keep an open mind and talk to the other participants. One of the best parts of my trip was making new friends. * Take the opportunity to talk with the monks or guides if there is a chance to do so. My conversation with the monk was one of the highlights of the entire trip. * If you are interested in culture, religion, history, or simply experiencing a different side of Korea, don't treat the temple stay as just another tourist activity. Give yourself time to actually enjoy the atmosphere and experience. * Most importantly, go with an open mind. You may come away with much more than just photos and a weekend trip; you may make new friends and have conversations or experiences that stay with you long after the trip.
