About your trip

The pick-up location was in Seoul. We traveled from there to the Anseong Farmstay for an hour or so. There, they explained to us how and when different regions of Korea make kimchi yearly, and why it is made during winter and not summer. The sajangnim explained to us that the ingredients used for the kimchi we were making that day were locally sourced (from their own area). We then got to experience the last step of making kimchi which is adding the yangnyeom to the cabbage. We even got to take it home!! We then enjoyed a delicious meal afterwards. We headed to the Anseong Namsadang Concert hall to witness Korea’s UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage performance the Namsadang Baudeogi. The performances were just amazing that I couldn't stop shouting "잘했어". It is such a privilege to watch this cultural heritage live. Once the performance was done, we were able to meet and greet and take photos with the amazing actors. After that, we headed to Starfield Anseong to savor the delicious award-winning desserts at the pop-up stores for 태이, 꼬르메움, 십삼월, 풍사니랑, 온숲. I even won raffle prizes from the mall! (I got raffle tickets after buying desserts from the pop-up stores.) It was such an enjoyable and memorable experience. I got to meet new people too!! Hope to join another tour with Funday Korea. P.S. For foreigners who couldn't understand or speak Korean, yes there was an interpreter.

TIP

Travel light. It's cold making kimchi in the winter outside, so dress warm. Engage with the locals and learn from them. Most importantly, Enjoy the experience!
