BUS, SUBWAY, BICYCLE
Last month on June, I went to visit Suwon for the first time with my friends to refresh our minds before our finals and I would definitely say that it was totally worth it. -> Suwon's Delicacies/Foods As a food enthusiast, I along with my friends tried lots of food there, but my best pick will be 1. Pot of rice with Salmon/Salmon 솥밥 (as shown in 2nd picture, its a Korean traditional food where you mixed salmon with rice and eat it...later you can also pour the hot water which they serve you from the beginning onto your rice pot that has your lit bit of left over rice and mixed it.) 2. Kalguksu/칼국수 (the noddle were slippery and has a chewy texture; also the soup was thick with right taste which I liked the most) 3. Sujebi/수제비 (the broth was thicker than the Kalguksu but it was tasty.) 4. Beads Ice-cream (after eating all this, can't forget the dessert right? It was also my first time trying this ice-cream because my friends recommended. It felt like I was eating some kind of small beads of candy but in an ice-cream flavor. Its super delicious and doesn't get messy when having it) -> Suwon Hwaseong Tour Suwon is a city of beautiful palaces with its own stand-out structure and features which is still conserving its past history and culture. There are around 10 palaces that you can visit and I must say It was an enchanting experience for me when I visited all of the 9 palaces except the Seojangdae (which I couldn't due to the time shortage cause I kinda started late from 12:00pm afternoon). So, before you start going to each of these palaces please take your Suwon Hwasweong Passport first from the Hwaseomun Gate and Yeonmundae Information Center. Me and my friend were able to collect all the 9 stamps from each of the palaces except the one and as a prize we got a small frog shaped brooch.(6th Picture) Stamp collection Rule: *If you collect at least 7 stamps, you can get 5000won worth small souvenir. *If you collect all the 10 stamps, you can get 10000won worth special souvenir. *You have to request souvenir 20 min before the end of the operation to receive it. (opening time~ 10:00-17:00 on weekdays and 10:00-18:00 on weekends and holidays) -> Enjoy the Royal Guard Performance (Ref: 7th Picture) -> Souvenir Shopping As one of the attractive places of South Korea, you can get a lots of beautiful and historic enriched shaped souvenirs in Suwon. Especially if you are someone just for a short period of time in South Korea you would definitely love this place for your souvenir shopping. (Ref: last picture). I like to collect refrigerator magnets so I bought one from there. If you are someone who likes to collect magnets I would say you would love it since it has variety of options and designs also not to forget they are in different price ranges as well so you can choose wholeheartedly whichever fits to your liking. For me, It was a best one-day trip experience and if there would be time I would love to go there again with my friends in future and that time I will surely collect all of the 10 stamps (haha I hope so~).
- Please rent a bicycle if possible to save time while going one palace to other for stamp collection. - You can order sujebi-kalguksu dish which is a mixed of both Sujebi and Kalguksu so no need to order it separately if you wanna try both. - If possible try to arrive before 9:00 am to fully enjoy your day(since Suwon has lots of attractive palaces to visit)
