Our short but unforgettable 2-day, 1-night trip to Yeongju was a perfect blend of culture, nature, and heartfelt hospitality — thoughtfully crafted by people who truly love their hometown and want to share its hidden treasures. We explored the serene Buseoksa Temple, with its ancient wooden halls and breathtaking mountain views, then wandered through the peaceful grounds of Sosu Seowon, Korea’s first Confucian academy. At the Seungheun Mural Tomb, we discovered vivid ancient wall paintings that brought Korea’s early history to life. The experience wasn’t just about sightseeing — it was filled with laughter and connection. We played Korean traditional games — such a fun way to bond. We also joined unique workshops: crafting a wind chime bell, cooking with fresh local ginseng, and even learning how to make our own ginseng wine (yes, we got to bring a bottle home!). Our stay at the Sobaeksan National Park Nature Center was a dream — clean, spacious rooms surrounded by mountains, crisp air, and an amazing view over Dansan Reservoir. The buffet meals were delicious and nourishing, made with seasonal, local ingredients. What made it truly special were our local guides, who spoke fluent English, and shared their deep love for Yeongju with warmth and pride. Their stories made every stop feel personal and meaningful. Yeongju may be a quiet place, but it’s filled with soul — and in just two days, it gave us memories we’ll never forget.
Don’t Skip the Early Morning Views: If you’re staying at Sobaeksan Nature Center, wake up early to catch the sunrise or morning mist over Dansan Reservoir. It’s breathtaking. Bring a Small Bag for Souvenirs: You’ll likely take home small handmade items like your wind bell or ginseng wine — bring bubble wrap or a padded pouch for safe packing.
