Visiting Seodaemun Prison History Hall was one of the most intense and emotional experiences I’ve had in Korea. I had heard about the prison’s dark history before going, but actually being there and seeing everything in person made it feel much more real. As I walked through the old prison cells and exhibition halls, I couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of sadness and respect for the independence activists who were imprisoned and tortured there. The museum does an excellent job of showing their struggles through preserved prison rooms, historical documents, and even personal letters written by the prisoners. The atmosphere inside is heavy, especially in the basement interrogation rooms, where I could see the cruel methods used to punish those who fought for Korea’s freedom. One of the most chilling moments for me was standing in front of the execution site. It was heartbreaking to think about the people who lost their lives there. Despite the painful history, I felt that this place was incredibly important—it serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made for Korea’s independence.
We should take subway to save the time.
