1. Comfortable walking shoes – There are beautiful parks, galleries, and nature spots that require walking, so comfortable shoes are important. 2. Weather-appropriate clothing – Damyang can get chilly in winter and hot in summer, so check the weather forecast and pack accordingly (light clothes in summer, warm clothes in winter). 3. Camera or smartphone – Damyang has stunning natural beauty, including bamboo forests, traditional Korean architecture, and unique art houses. You'll want to capture memories! 4. Sunscreen and sunglasses – If visiting during the summer or spring, the weather can be sunny, and you'll want to protect yourself from UV rays. 5. Portable charger – With all the sightseeing and taking photos, you'll want to make sure your phone stays charged. 6. Personal items – Bring your essentials like toiletries, medication (if any), and any personal comfort items. 7. An open mind for local food – Don’t miss out on trying local specialties like Puradak Chicken or Bamboo dishes. If you have food preferences or allergies, it’s good to be prepared.

Dambi Art Warehouse With our bellies full, we made our way to the Damyang Art House, where graffiti-inspired street art, some reflecting New York’s vibrant culture, adorned the walls. The art house had high ceilings and a very unique vibe, with decorative hearts everywhere. The staff was kind. It was a perfect spot for taking photos, and we spent a lot of time exploring.

WALK
Next, we visited Damyang’s Park (담양관방제림), which completely surprised me. We had initially thought the park would be too dark for photos, but it was magically lit up. The bridge there, covered in lights, looked straight out of a romantic movie, and walking up the stairs felt like a scene from a dream. The view from the bridge, with stars above and old-fashioned lights around, made the moment feel even more magical.

WALK
Later, we walked through Damyang Central Road, which was lined with Christmas lights, and it truly set the festive mood. It was also Halime’s birthday, so we celebrated at one of the magic cafes in the area. We sang for her, ate cake, and sipped coffee under a grand Christmas tree. It was a sweet moment, filled with laughter and warmth. After a long, cold day, we returned to our pension. The heat was turned on, and we all lay on the floor to absorb the warmth before quickly washing up and falling into a deep sleep.

Day 2

Damyang Delight The next day, we woke up refreshed and headed to the Delight Damyang Art House, where we were greeted by incredible exhibits. The highlight was a huge 3D moon installation, which gave me a bit of a scare because it was so massive. There were also walls that changed with the seasons, and candle lights in paper boxes that created a surreal atmosphere. Even though I couldn’t print my favorite selfie due to a technical issue, I was still in awe of the experience. To end the day on a high note, we visited Lala Bread Bakery, where we had a delightful lunch. I tried the cutest mouse-shaped bread filled with cheese, and the beef pasta was so delicious that it became one of my favorites. The smoked beef was amazing, and I washed it all down with a refreshing shinemuscat ade.
